Flow Diversion Open House

May 2009

For those of you who were unable to make it to the open houses in Whitney Pier, North End and Ashby, the Sydney Tar Ponds Agency would like to provide you with an update on what took place. Currently, Wash Brook and Coke Ovens Brook drain into the Tar Ponds. In order for remediation work to continue in this area, water needs to be redirected and drained from the ponds, which will be done via temporary pumping stations. This contract has been awarded as a joint venture to Beaver Marine Ltd. and MB2 Excavating and Construction Ltd. Mobilization on construction access roads has started in the area and building of the pumps is set to take place in June 2009.
